About this Event

This workshop will provide an introduction to the technologies of next-generation sequencing and a hands-on introduction to NGS analysis using the Galaxy platform. Topics covered will include:

• A brief history of DNA sequencing technologies

• An introduction to next-generation sequencing providers and how their technology works

• Understanding common bioinformatics workflows and standardised file types

• Practical exercises on sequence data quality control

A laptop with wireless internet access (ideally configured for the Eduroam network)

What prior experience do I need?

None - the workshop gives a full introduction to both next-generation sequencing technologies and the Galaxy bioinformatics platform

Who should attend?

The workshop is designed for biologists, other life scientists, and computer scientists planning to work with next-generation sequencing data
