About this Event

The Man Who Knew Infinity

Written and directed by Matthew Brown, The Man Who Knew Infinity is the true story of a friendship that forever changed mathematics. In 1913, Srinivasa Ramanujan (Dev Patel), a self-taught Indian mathematics genius, travelled to Trinity College, Cambridge. Over the course of five years, he forged a bond with his mentor - the brilliant and eccentric professor, GH Hardy (Jeremy Irons) - and fought against prejudice to reveal his mathematic genius to the world.

National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology.

Running each year in August, it features more than 1,000 events around Australia, including those delivered by universities, schools, research institutions, libraries, museums and science centres.

It provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of Australian scientists to the world of knowledge. It also aims to encourage an interest in science pursuits among the general public, and to encourage young people to become fascinated by the world we live in.
