Naval Shipbuilding Industry Briefing

You are invited to attend a Naval Shipbuilding industry briefing in Newcastle on the 6th July. Department of Defence is encouraging industry to come along to find out more about opportunities in the Future Frigate and Offshore Patrol Vessel Programs.

The briefing will include

  • A welcome by Senator the Hon Arthur Sinodinos AO, Senator for New Souths Wales, Mininster for Industry, Innovation and Science
  • Information on Naval shipbuilding including the Future Frigate and Offshore Patrol Vessel Programs followed by a question and answer session.
  • Information on the Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) and the Defence Industry Policy agenda and programs. This will include how industry can get involved in opportunities over the life of the shipbuilding programs
  • A presentation by Defence NSW

The Future Frigate and Offshore Patrol Vessel programs are key pillars of the Government’s plan to modernise Australia’s naval capabilities and create a sustainable naval shipbuilding industry.


The Government is committed to maximising the opportunities for the Australian industry to participate in these $38 billion programs combined. The Department of Defence hosted a number for Naval Shipbuilding industry briefings in Australian capital cities in late 2016 and will be hosting briefings in regional cities in April and May 2017.
