Neurodevelopment Across the Early Years: A Half-Day Clinical Workshop

Centre for Children's Health ResearchSouth Brisbane, QLD
Friday, May 22 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm AEST
Overview

A QPPCN Pre-Conference Workshop

The conference will take place in the Centre for Children’s Health Research (62 Graham Street, South Brisbane), in the level 5 seminar room. Tickets for both in-person and virtual attendance are available for this conference.

Join experienced clinician-researchers for a practical half-day workshop exploring contemporary neurodevelopmental assessment and early intervention from the neonatal period to school age. Using a journey-based framework (past, present, and future), this workshop translates the latest evidence and guidelines into real-world clinical practice.

Participants will gain updates on early diagnosis of cerebral palsy and other neurodevelopmental conditions, with a focus on new evidence for the General Movements Assessment (GMA) and Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination (HINE), alongside emerging tools such as MOS‑R and BabyOSCAR. These tools will be explored for their transdiagnostic application, supporting prediction of developmental outcomes beyond CP and providing earlier prognostic insight for infants at high risk of CP.

The session will also explore models of care that support timely, equitable early screening and intervention, including considerations for First Nations children, service accessibility, and culturally-responsive practice across healthcare settings.

Presenters:

  • Dr Joanne George
  • Dr Lynda McNamara
  • Dr Rebecca Caesar
  • Dr Carly Luke

Morning tea is included in the price, and lunch will be provided for those attending the afternoon session. Please indicate if you will be attending the afternoon session when checking out.
