Organised by

Lightning Ridge Aboriginal Arts & Culture Shop is a space for local Aboriginal artists to share and sell their high quality creations. On June 30, 2018, in the small, rural town of Lightning Ridge in northwest New South Wales, on Yuwaalaraay land Franny Peters-Little opened a shop. In a town where the main export and majority of the towns souvenir and artefact retailers are dedicated to the mining, cutting and selling of opal it seems Aboriginal culture was somewhat overlooked.  Today if explored, you will find the culture of the Aboriginal people of lightning Ridge you will find it to be rich and vibrant with the Lightning Ridge Arts & Culture Shop showcasing the art and culture of the local Aboriginal community. Our shop aims to encourage and promote Aboriginal artistic expression. This is shown through a variety of means which include novels, biographies, poetry, photography, Aboriginal cookbooks, recipes, music, textiles, sculptures, carvings, jewellery, paintings & prints. Our shop also conducts workshops and cultural tours.  As well as supporting Aboriginal art and culture our shop also supports a charity, i.e. the Jimmy Little Foundation. See http://www.jlf.org.au/
