About this event

This workshop explores the innovative artform of needle felting by hand which allows makers to produce textiles, accessories or artworks without the use of machines.

In this full day workshop, you will work with a variety of fibre including sheep wool, alpaca and silk using different gauges and types of needles. You will learn to make an armature and use a variety of techniques including hot dry felting to build your bird.

At the end of the day, you will take your finished sculpture home with you.


A ge: TEEN 13-17 and ADULT 18+

S kill Level: Beginner

I nclusions: You will receive a starter kit which includes locally sourced hand-dyed natural fibre, felting needles, a handout with a brief history of needle felting and a list of suppliers to source materials and tools. Hessian work pads will be supplied for use during the workshop.

W hat to bring: Snacks, lunch, water bottle, notepad and pen

C lothing Guidelines: Comfortable clothes and closed toed shoes.
