Have you ever wondered how other psychosocial therapists are conducting their sessions and what practice approaches are being used in their clinics?

Working as a psychotherapist or social work therapist in the NDIS area is a specialised field of practice that requires a high level of commitment, skill, knowledge, professional expertise and passion to support other people.

With limited guidance available in this area, even the most skilled and committed practitioners can find it challenging to design engaging, yet goal-directed therapeutic sessions that motivate and inspire participants to reach their dreams, aspirations and goals.

Standard interviewing and communication approaches used to engage clients in mainstream areas, don’t always work. Cognitive and behavioural techniques such as CBT, or task – reward based therapies such as Applied Behaviour Analysis, are often unsuitable, and they are not neurodiversity -affirming.

Based on years of therapeutic service provision experience in the NDIS sector, this online training provides information and ideas from the therapist's perspective on how to design, organise and implement your own therapeutic toolbox and resources for successful client engagement, participation, and NDIS goal achievement. It offers an overview of customised therapeutic techniques and tools that can be applied in social work therapy or psychotherapy clinics to effectively engage clients with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities and neurodiverse needs.

From especially designed, unique therapeutic stories to customised cards, quizzes, audio-visual and somatic strategies, we are sharing our professional tips, ideas and secrets along with modified therapeutic strategies that proved effective in our clinic, when supporting people with a range of disabilities.

At the end of the session, the participants would be able to

• Demonstrate an understanding of challenges experienced by therapists when conducting NDIS therapy sessions, and the ways of addressing them.

• Demonstrate knowledge of a range of customised therapeutic tools, strategies, and practice approaches that are both engaging and effective.

• Utilise the strategies discussed in the training session in their practice with NDIS clients

• Design and implement their own customised and unique therapeutic approaches to support NDIS participants, based on examples explored in the training session.

Following the training, all participants will be able to download a copy of the presentation slides and a list of resources directly from Eventbrite.
