Moderation is a core quality assurance measure of the NCCD. During moderation, teachers evaluate student information to determine a Level of Adjustment (LoA) and a Category of Disability (CoD). QCEC is facilitating two moderation activities:

  1. Cross-school moderation for teachers who have undertaken a within school moderation.
  2. Cross-sector moderation with Queensland State Schools and Independent Schools Queensland, as outlined in the Memorandum of Agreement - Special Education Services and Dual Enrolment 2023 - 2025.

Who should attend?

This workshop is suitable for teachers.

Registration

Participants are required to register individually using only their work email address. Only registered participants should attend. If you have a disability and need additional support/s (i.e., require FM system, mobility assistance) please advise your CSA contact by email with your specific requirements.

Workshop details

The purpose of this 3-hour workshop is to moderate student information to determine a Level of Adjustment (LoA) and Category of Disability (CoD).

All participants must bring one de-identified case study (3 copies of this case study) for moderation of a student for whom they are seeking clarification or advice about a level of adjustment and/or category of disability, this may include a student who is being imputed for the NCCD.

What to prepare/bring for the session

  1. One (1) student document set de-indentified (all personal names/identifiers, school name, student photos removed etc.). The document set must be copied (printed) x 3.
  2. Selecting the level of adjustment (the level of adjustment matrix (A3)
  3. Broad categories of disability used in the NCCD (PDF)
  4. Examples of evidence to support a student’s inclusion in the NCCD (PDF)
  5. Appendix 1: NCCD moderation template (A3) (page 14 of Moderation resource for schools)
