Navigating Precarity: Career planning in the arts sector
Careers Workshop: Hosted by Canberra Contemporary x University of Canberra
This two-hour practical workshop for UC students and Canberra Contemporary members considers how to build a sustainable arts career in the context of precarity, informality, and neoliberal individualism. Grounded in a decade of research in Australia, Asia and England, the session demonstrates how early career arts workers are building career and leadership skills and provides practical strategies for individuals and community groups.
Using intelligent career theory and the three "ways of knowing": knowing why (values/motivation), knowing how (explicit and tacit skills), and knowing whom (relational networks) participants will move beyond traditional linear career metaphors to examine how to work within the complex, boundaryless arts ecology.
RSVP essential. This event is free to attend for all University of Canberra students and staff and/or Canberra Contemporary Members.
