About this event

  • 6 hours

In this 2-day workshop, you will create a rainbow pallet using three traditional plant dyes: indigo, madder and wold.

You will layer shades of colour at different strengths on cotton handkerchiefs to create 25 colours.

At the end of the workshop, you will be able to take your dyed handkerchiefs home with you.

Through the experience of preparing, mordanting and dyeing the handkerchiefs you will gain an understanding of the process of dyeing cotton with natural dyes. These techniques can also be applied to other fibres. In the future, you can use your newfound knowledge and skills to create any shade you desire.
