Native Frog Survey

Native Frog Survey

Eddie Kornhauser Recreational ReserveElanora, QLD
Friday, Feb 27 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm AEST
Overview

Help gather data for our new citizen science study to monitor the impacts of invasive cane toads on native frog species!

City of Gold Coast has partnered with not-for-profit community environment group Watergum to bring a new cane toad citizen science study to the Gold Coast.

As a part of our new study we need your help to monitor native frog species at our study site of Schuster Park to better understand the impacts of invasive cane toads on these species.

Join our Frog Survey at 6:30pm on Friday the 27 February 2026 at Eddie Kornhauser Recreational Reserve, and work together to monitor native species! Parking can be found on Casuarina Dr.

Our experienced guides and local frog expert will lead you throughout the park, sharing tips and tricks to help you spot our amazing amphibians in their natural habitat.

During the night you'll contribute in our new citizen science project by recording species sightings! Using the free FrogID app we'll be recording frog calls and sightings to help measure the health and distribution of frogs across Gold Coast.

We'll begin with a brief educational talk, followed by an introduction to our new citizen science study and how YOU can get involved! Then we'll head of through the park and work together to count as many native species as possible!

Please wear closed in shoes and appropriate clothing for the outdoors at night. If you have a torch, please bring it along on the night! If not, Watergum will have gear available to use.

We can’t wait to see you there and work together to make a real difference!

Spaces are limited so please register to attend.

You can find out more information about cane toads and native frogs at watergum.org/cane-toad-challenge/

If you have questions about the event, please contact Watergum at canetoads@watergum.org or 0478 929 987.
