About this event
About this Event
The National Office for Child Safety has contracted SNAICC – National Voice for our Children in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) to develop culturally appropriate resources to support Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities to understand and implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (National Principles).
The National Principles emphasise the importance of culturally safe environments and practices for Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander children and young people. Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander families and communities are more likely to access services that are culturally safe and experience better outcomes in such services.
Please note that this NOT a rewrite of the National Principles but rather a way for community to develop and recommend ways to understand and implement the existing principles in our organisations.
National Stakeholder & Community Consultations
SNAICC and VACCA will consult with organisations that engage with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families across all jurisdictions within Australia. The result of the consultations will be to develop culturally appropriate resources to support Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities to understand and implement the National Principles.
SNAICC and VACCA would like to hear from a diverse cross section of people in your organisations, including Board members, CEOs, managers, young people, field staff, policy staff, and front of office staff – Everyone!
