Flinders University’s collective vision is to foster an environment that recognises and embraces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledges and cultures. This vision for reconciliation is grounded in the concepts of togetherness, reciprocity, and respect.
The path to reconciliation is a whole-of-University responsibility and as such, we are pleased to be celebrating National Reconciliation Week (NRW) #NRW2024 which runs annually from 27 May – 3 June. These dates mark two milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey: the 1967 referendum and the historic 1992 Mabo decision, respectively.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.
To commemorate National Reconciliation Week, we invite you to join your friends and colleagues for an afternoon of cultural immersion at our all staff & student event on Monday, 27 May 2024, in the Plaza & Student Hub at Bedford Park Campus.
Formalities will start at 12pm for 30-40min with a Welcome to Country & Smoking Ceremony, followed by a contemporary Aboriginal cultural performance.
Until 3pm, enjoy a free Vili's Reconciliation donut, Art Talk, crafty workshops and puzzles.

- Registration is open to all staff and students.
- Places in the free craft workshops are limited. If interested, please book your preferred time when you register as an 'Add on' to your event ticket. If your preferred time is booked out, please contact us at events@flinders.edu.au and we can add you to a waitlist.
