About this event

Are you interested in learning more about Indigenous data sovereignty and effective practices that can influence governments, agencies, researchers, and institutions to prevent the misuse of data and ensure access to data that is crucial for Indigenous nation rebuilding? If so, please join us at the Indigenous Data Summit.

This summit will bring together Indigenous community members, organisers, leaders, and executives to focus on implementing Indigenous Data Sovereignty through Indigenous Data Governance. With gaps still existing in understanding how to implement Indigenous Data Sovereignty, this summit presents a unique opportunity to refresh the agenda and look towards the future by operationalizing Indigenous Data Governance.

Taking place on Tuesday 13 June in Cairns, one day before the Lowitja Institute’s International Indigenous Health and Wellbeing Conference. This summit is exclusively for Indigenous peoples.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.

A limited number of sponsored tickets are available for those in need. To apply, please send an email to AIGI@aigi.com.au

AIGI envision a future Australia where Indigenous nations can pursue and exercise their right to self-determination and economic development through strong self–governance. We know that practical, effective and culturally legitimate governance is the fundamental building block for delivering real change.

AIGI seeks to realise this change by assisting Indigenous nations—whether their members live in remote, rural or urban settings—in their efforts to determine and strengthen their own sustainable systems of self-governance.

We are passionate about working alongside Indigenous nations to develop their  communities, restore economic prosperity, improve the daily lives of their families, inspire the leadership of youth, and bring a renewed sense of cultural integrity and well-being to their people.
