National Close the Gap Day: Tribal Warrior Cultural Cruise
Join us on the harbour as we strive towards closing the gap and creating an improved health and wellness for our First Nations people.
National Close the Gap Day falls on Thursday 19 March this year, and I'm pleased to offer staff the opportunity to join the Tribal Warrior Cruise, experiencing Sydney Harbour through the eyes of its original custodians. This guided journey will connect you with traditions and practices that Aboriginal communities have sustained for thousands of years.
For more than a decade, people across Australia have come together on this day to show support and advocate for health equity. At the Faculty of Medicine and Health, we’re proud to honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and we remain committed to the Uluru Statement from the Heart as a pathway to self‑determination.
National Close the Gap Day is a chance for us to stand together for equity and a better future. It reminds us to speak up about the health challenges faced by First Nations communities, learn about ongoing work in this space, and reflect on how much progress is still needed.
Join us on Thursday 19 March on the harbour as we celebrate, learn, and continue striving to close the gap and improve health and wellbeing for First Nations people.
