Join us in Narooma for the 2018 Oyster Festival!

Attracting thousands each year, the multiple award winning Narooma Oyster Festival celebrates South Coast NSW oysters and the region’s natural clean quality produce, chefs, and rich artistic and cultural talents.

The last festival was so popular it attracted a lot of press attention! Come and see what it's all about. The Oyster Festival has always had something for everyone from fine foodies to families, combining a cosmopolitan quality food experience with family entertainment.

Watch the shucking competition, taste a selection of oysters tasting from all of our local estuaries - while taking in the views at the festival’s stunning location at Wagonga Inlet, Forster’s Bay.

Oysters, Tasting, Cooking Demos, Shucking, Music and more!

Quota Park, Saturday May 5th - 10am - 6pm

Enjoy music all day, taste oysters and have a laugh with the roving entertainment for the kids. There's shucking comps, watch cooking demonstrations and more!

Cooking Demonstrations

The line-up of chefs is like a who’s who of fine food, many of them award winners. Each will prepare one dish.

- Corey Costelloe, Executive Chef at Rockpool Bar and Grill
- Colin Barker, Executive Chef at The Boathouse at Blackwattle Bay
- Nick Gardner, now of Hampden Deli Dining and School
- Steven Hodges, of Fish Face Darlinghurst
- Wade and Evan Woolhouse of Wheelers Seafood Restaurant at Pambula.

Traditional Cooking Demonstrations

This year we also feature traditional cooking demonstrations by Koori elders using a firepit and traditional prepartion methonds. Gather around and learn traditional, indigenous methods of cooking all types of local seafoods - not to be missed!

The programme will also feature 2018 Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Produce Show champions, Erica Dibden of Tilba Real Dairy who will demonstrate butter making and artisan ice cream maker, Joe Taranto from Bodalla Dairy. Guiding the demonstrations will be MC Kelly Eastwood, now of Eastwood’s Deli and Cooking School at Bermagui, who has been a food stylist on many TV shows including River Cottage Australia.

Oyster Tours by Seaplane

Experience the Oyster Coast from a perspective you've never imagined with South Coast Seaplanes!

Depart the Narooma Quarterdeck restaurant for take off from Wagonga Inlet and get stunning views of the inlet and the oyster leases throughout. We will fly out west to Punkally Creek and view the extensive Oyster leases in the pristine waters feeding into Wagonga. We'll then head east out over the bar for a lap around Montague Island. Admire the stunning blue waters and marine life around the island, before returning for a graceful water landing and taxi back to The Quarterdeck.

Flight Time: 18 minutes
Experience Time: 35 minutes

Cost: $440 total for up to three adult passengers (two children may share a seat for the price of one adult if their combined weight is less than 77 kg)

Narooma Oyster Tours

If you are visiting the Narooma Oyster Festival, why not get out on the water for 45 minutes and explore the beautiful Wagonga Inlet. Your captain and tour guide, Bill Dudley, has designed a shortened version of his much loved Narooma Oyster Tours as a ‘taster’ for Festival visitors. Tickets on sale now!

Narooma has a long history of producing some of the best Sydney Rock oysters you will ever try. Bill will help you discover how Narooma’s famous oysters are produced and cultivated. Having grown up in the Narooma area, Bill knows the waterways of the New South Wales south coast very well. Bill loves to share his passion for the clear blue waters of Wagonga Inlet, its history, wildlife and pristine environment.

These Festival tours last 45 minutes and will run on Saturday 5 May on the hour, every hour from 11am with the last tour leaving at 4pm. Maximum number of bookings per tour is 11 people.

This was a sell‑out last year so make sure you book in advance!
