About this event
NAIDOC SPECIAL EVENT: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO CELEBRATE FIRST NATIONS PEOPLES AND CULTURES
A Workplace team building and organisational development event with In My Blood It Runs and Children’s Ground.
On Tuesday 10th November, Children's Ground and In My Blood it Runs invites you and your workplace to celebrate with us - to listen and be inspired by how your workplaces can engage with, support and walk with First Nations people.
A virtual remote screening of the award winning documentary In My Blood It Runs, will be followed by an educational live Q&A with members of the film team.
This cultural learning event for staff, will invite deep reflection on how to improve engagement, policies, procedures, and impact. Children’s Ground is encouraging workplaces to partake as a team and use this as a team building and organisational development in relation to First Nations history, peoples, culture and future.
How does it work?
We understand in this uncertain time schedules are ever-changing, so we are aiming to make accessing these events as flexible as possible. After you have bought tickets for your staff, you will be sent separate links for each attendee to access:
Step 1 (2.30pm or earlier): Watch the film. Each ticketholder will have a unique link to watch the film; we recommend the latest you do this is at 2.30pm AEDT on Tuesday but we will send you the links in advance so your staff can watch earlier if preferable. We will also send you assets including videos, marketing and campaign information if you wish to share with your team.
Step 2 (4pm): Join the Q&A. You will be sent a link to join the live Q&A at 4.00pm AEDT. All registered attendees can ask questions and interact live with the panelists, including members of the film and impact team.
Fundraising
50% of profits from these screenings will go towards the impact campaign and supporting First Nations communities to prepare against COVID-19. See more info at: www.inmyblooditruns.com/takeaction/
Synopsis
Ten-year-old Dujuan is a child-healer, a good hunter and speaks three languages. As he shares his wisdom of history and the complex world around him we see his spark and intelligence. Yet Dujuan is ‘failing’ in school and facing increasing scrutiny from welfare and the police.
As he travels perilously close to incarceration, his family fight to give him a strong Arrernte education alongside his western education lest he becomes another statistic. We walk with him as he grapples with these pressures, shares his truths and somewhere in-between finds space to dream, imagine and hope for his future self.
