About this event

The Victorian Alcohol and Drug Association (VAADA) has been funded by the Murray Primary Health Network to facilitate free workforce development opportunities in the Murray PHN region for AOD workers.

These workshops will focus on specific areas of exploitation within family and domestic violence, (identified as a complex pattern of violent, abusive and exploitative behaviours, perpetrated over time) and are designed to aid AOD practitioners in their ongoing development under the MARAM Framework to identify, assess and respond to family violence.

This workshop is not a core MARAM training however this series of workshops will strengthen your response to family violence, by looking at some of the nuanced areas of exploitation that exist when power and control are driving behaviour.

The outcome of this series is to support professional development around not only the tactics used within different areas of exploration but how systems themselves can be used and exploited. Together, we aim to break down and understand how exploitation occurs, and how as practitioners we can use our professional judgement to manage our response in centring the safety of adult, adolescent and child victim survivors.

Workshops will run fortnightly, allowing a break between each topic which will be used as an opportunity to come together to reflect on the previous week’s learnings and practice examples.

Audience: AOD clinicians, practitioners, team leaders and managers in the Murray PHN region
