April Networking - Jude Kalman from Little Drum Pictures
About this event
Please join us at the Bowls Club for our (early) June breakfast to hear from our guest, Jude Kalman, owner and operator of Little Drum Pictures.
Little Drum Pictures is a production company that creates content for charities, not-for-profits and social enterprises.
Jude is also known as an independent multi award-winning film maker from the Gold Coast whose documentaries have featured nationally on Channel Nine, at the 2017 Gold Coast Film Festival, LAMPA International Film Festival (Russia). Yofi Film Festival (USA), Poe Film Festival (USA), Tokyo International Short Film Festival (Japan).
With 20+ years of industry experience Little Drum Pictures (previously FishFilms) was formed to drive her work with charities, social enterprises and not-for-profits toward the forefront as she seeks to bring her skills in production to serve those who are serving and working with the poor, the starving, the vulnerable, the neglected and abused.
In 2020, she was awarded the Graham Wade Pilgrim Media Prize for her portfolio of work in Mozambique with education charity Mission Educate.
In February that year, Jude was invited to speak at the United Nations’ 58th Commission for Social Development, at UN Headquarters in New York, on “Social Impact Films as a means to Promoting Inclusion” in conjunction with the screening of the film she produced and directed about Mission Educate.
Later in December, she spoke at the United Nations in Geneva (via Zoom) for her work with Nice Coffee Co. for the #INFOCUS inclusive social transformations forum. “Nice Coffee Co. – Our Story” also won the Special Prize – Education at the 2020 LAMPA Film Festival.
Her recent trip to Bangladesh with social enterprise Earthy Worthy was to create content for the start-up and also do some reconnaissance work for a concept series that features social entrepreneurs.
Jude believes that people and production is what creates impact and this plays a part in empowering communities around the world.
