Event Information
About this Event
Mud Australia presents Mud Talks 03: The Magic and Art of Beekeeping with Honey Fingers. Moderated by contemporary artist Stanislava Pinchuk, at At the Above Gallery in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
Join us for an evening of art, engaging conversation and delicious honey, cheese and wine to celebrate an exhibition of Mud porcelain repurposed into beautiful artworks by Nic Dowse and his beehives.
About Nic Dowse of Honey Fingers:
Melbourne based Nic Dowse of Honey Fingers is not just an urban beekeeping network, but also an advocate of what he describes as ‘bee cultures’. Bee cultures is a term that describes the relationship between humans and bees, across farming, food, art, history, design and education. Originally trained as an architect, Nic Dowse shifted into apiculture (beekeeping) over a decade ago. He has since built an impressive network of urban beehives as well as an immersive portfolio of artistic works that communicate the complexity, wonder and beauty of bees.
About Stanislava Pinchuk:
Stanislava Pinchuk is an artist who's work uses data-mapping to record the changing topographies of war and conflict zones. Her practice spans large-scale surveying and drawing, film, sculpture, photography, installation and tattooing.
An avid beekeeper born and raised in Ukraine, with beekeepers on both sides of her family - she currently lives between Naarm (Melbourne) and Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina).
