Mozart Symphony 40 Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra March 8 2.00pm
3 great symphonies composed in 2 months! Come and experience the grief and sensuality of Mozart's Symphony 40
Welcome to ESCO's 2026 season, kicking off with one of Mozart's great masterpieces his 40th Symphony.
In a short 2 month period Mozart composed his final 3 great symphonies, 39,40,41
This symphony is full of Mozart’s supreme expressions of suffering and terror, yet is shockingly voluptuous. The grief and the sensuality strengthen each other and end by becoming indivisible, indistinguishable one from the other.
Debussy's Danse Sacrée et Danse Profane for harp and strings was composed in 1904. Like Mozart, Claude Debussy was not content with the musical status quo of his times and developed a wholly original and unique style. Today's performance features harpist Paul Nicolaou who is rapidly emerging as one of Australia’s most exciting young artists.
Our concert opens with Haydn's Symphony 30, a short joyous work showcasing ESCO's principal flautist Visjna Kosanovic.
Today's performance is lead by ESCO's Chief Conductor Omid Moheb Zadeh
