Mountains Tales - The Mt Victoria Story

About this event

Nestled at the terminus of the railway line in the Blue Mountains, Mt Victoria enjoys a history waiting to be explored. Her story connects back to the days of the Sydney colony marked by road networks, but with the arrival of the "Iron Horse" – the steam train in 1868, a village would soon grow.

Soon Sydneysiders were able to travel in comfort to the "Top of the Mountain" to enjoy the fresh air and mountain vistas. The Village grew and prospered through the Victorian and Edwardian period prior to the Great War.

Join Mountains Tales for a leisurely, two-hour stroll covering 1.5 km as we delve into the history of Mt Victoria. During this time, we'll journey back to colonial times, unravelling the origins of the village and immersing ourselves in the tales of holidaymakers and the locals who considered Mt Victoria their home.

Our tour ends in the heart of the village giving you time to enjoy a wonderful lunch, the unique shops or explore more, as visitors have for over 150 years.

Mountains Tales offers an intimate experience, limited to a maximum group size of 15. Feel free to bring your leashed four-legged companions along on the tour – our two whippets have bestowed a glowing 5-paw rating!

Even if the day is offering "Mountains Weather" our tour will operate. Remember to bring a jacket or umbrella and relish the invigorating mountain air!

Whether you are a mountains local or are a visitor to our backyard, you're sure to relish an entertaining and informative walk.
