About this event

Visitors will enjoy a delicious Viennese morning or afternoon tea in the studio gallery where they can view our new exhibition Drawn from the Collection: Highlights and Hidden Gems.

This collection showcases the diversity of art forms, style and materials used by Karl and Slawa in creating powerful bodies of modernist work that communicate stories and ideas about family life, World War 2, displacement, resilience, and survival through art.

Visitors can learn through the art works and sculptures about contribution of artists Karl and Slawa Duldig displayed in the authentic domestic setting of their home: a story of creative lives in Vienna, Singapore and Melbourne; of dramatic escapes, remarkable reunions and unexpected recovery.

The museum celebrates the life of these two artists and tours on Mother’s Day will particularly focus on Slawa Horowitz-Duldig – mother, artist, designer, teacher and inventor of the modern foldable umbrella. Throughout the museum visitors can engage with Slawa’s story through works of art, photographs, domestic settings and archival material.
