THE HACKATHON

We are seeking new ideas and ways to boost operational performance, drive sustainability and improve conditions for workers in our mines around the world.

And what better way to harness new ideas than a hackathon? What is a hackathon you might wonder? A “Hackathon” is an event where we bring together a group of idea-driven teams to solve problems highlighted by industry experts. We will be hosting a hackathon in Melbourne, during the week commencing 26 November 2018.

Over the course of one electrifying weekend, teams made up of individuals with diverse skills will work together to come up with ideas and then rapidly bring them to life. Staff from within our organisation will team up with external participants to develop projects which will be pitched to internal solution owners in the business.

We know that the greatest ideas come from the collaboration of unlikely pairings. So, we’re looking for students from engineering, data analysis, internet of things development and business backgrounds to develop solutions to problems around:

• ore purity
• waste management
• future business opportunities
