Event description

Description

Girl Geek Academy welcomes primary school teachers and teacher librarians to join us for #MissMakesCode Teacher training. Learn how to make your own game using code, just as your students would, followed by practical examples and resources to roll the program out in your school.

Why Participate?

Girl Geek Academy ensure solid pedagogical approaches are used, #MissMakesCode aligns with the Digital Technologies Curriculum and meets the achievement standard for Foundation to Year 2.

The program consists of explicit teaching activities for visible thinking, problem solving and GUI design so that young girls are able to work in a variety of computational ways to solve problems and create apps/games via coding.

The program also aims to be fun and engaging when delivered by trained teachers who can utilise iPad Apps to teach and hone this skill set.

Participants will need to bring their own iPad or laptop, along with a charger. Girl Geek Academy will provide a delicious lunch (dietaries catered for) and healthy snacks to keep you energised and inspired.

Open to teachers and librarians of young girls between the ages of 5 and 8. This workshop is proudly supported by the Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship (WISE) grant, providing teachers and teacher librarians with subsidised access to this course. Normally valued at over $500.
