Minus18 Sydney Queer Formal® Online
Event Information
About this Event
The sparkliest night of the year is back for Mardi Gras!
We're taking the Minus18 Sydney Queer Formal® online, so all LGBTQIA+ young people can attend safely, no matter their location!
Over 300 LGBTQIA+ young people attended the special digital version of the Melbourne Queer Formal in 2020, so you better believe we have some big things planned for this one. Expect an unforgettable, Pride-filled, lavish night of LGBTQIA+ performers and PRIDE 🌈
And depending on the restrictions where you're based, you might even be able to tune into our live broadcast with your pals, in your Queer Formal best! Make it the most rainbow watch party ever!

Frequently Asked Questions:
Is it safe?
Definitely. This is a youth event for young people aged 12 to 19. For the safety of our youth attendees, anyone who is above the age of 19 that tunes in will be removed. The Zoom event will be moderated by the Minus18 team, including trained Youth Workers. Attendees can message each other as a group, but will not be able to private message each other.
This is an alcohol, drug and smoke free event and though we won’t all be in the same room together, we’ll still be keeping an eye on everyone to make sure they’re adhering to this.
The event will be moderated by Minus18 youth workers.
If you have any questions about the safety or programming of this event, please reach out to Event Coordinator, Miller at miller@minus18.org.au
Hang on a second. Is this an in-person event?
No, Queer Formal Online will be live-streamed on Zoom (we'll send you a link on the day of the event).
I'm an adult that works for a youth organisation. Can I host a watch party for my youth cohort?
Absolutely! We'd love it if you organised a watch party. Please fill in this form to receive a Queer Formal Watch Party info guide, a youth org ticket link, and a discount code for our online store to help get your space decorated and ready.
Anything else I should know?
We love our digital events – they’re super fun, silly, wonderfully Pride-filled opportunities for our youth community to come together and connect. That said, the chat is fast-paced, the event is pretty loud, and things can get a little overwhelming! Think of it as a Digital version of one of our dance events.
Youth Workers will be available if you’re feeling unsafe, and it’s so fine if you need to tap out of the event for a break, then re-enter.
Minus18 acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which this digital event is happening – all over Australia. We acknowledge their continued connection and contribution to land, water and community, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded; this always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
