Overview

A group of 2x 2.5-hour sessions for school aged children 5-7 with focus on food exploration, and language skills through cooking and play


A two-day holiday group (2.5 hours per day) in the January school holidays, 2026 atThomastown. Sessions are staffed by our highly skilledKey Worker and Allied Health Assistant utilising your NDIS funding.

By registering for this event, you are registering for both group sessions (dates outlined below).


Overview of this group:


A creative and fun holiday group that uses cooking to practice social and organisational skills, explores different tastes and textures of food, and builds a positive relationship between children and food. Children will enjoy cooking, food play and engage in indirect food-related activities such as book reading about food, movement games and conversation.

At the completion of the group, you will receive a summary report, detailing your child’s progress to use for your NDIS review.


Group dates for the January school holidays, 2026

· Tuesday, 20 January 2026,10.00am-12.30pm

· Wednesday, 21 January 2026, 10.00am-12.30pm


Goals for this group:


  • Learning how to sequence and follow a simple recipe.
  • Exploring different food properties i.e; look, smell, touch and taste.
  • Cooperating, taking turns and negotiating with peers.
  • Developing fine motor skills and independence.


Suitable for:

  • Children aged 5 – 8 years currently at school who would benefit from:
  • Developing their relationship with food, without any pressure to eat
  • Developing sequencing and language skills
  • Participating in small group activities that encourage communication, turn taking and problem solving


A parent/carer is not required to stay for the group.


Please bring:

EpiPen/medication as outlined in medical action plan
- Water bottle
- Warm jacket
- lunch (Nut free please)
- spare clothing (as needed

Please ensure your child wears clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, as we will be doing messy activities. Art smocks will be supplied (or please feel free to bring your own).


Group cost: $444.14 - $791.29

*Group costings vary dependent on group numbers. Final costing will be advised prior to the group starting.

Additional group costs for the purchase of ingredients to be used in the cooking will be added.

After each group session, staff will document how your child participated and worked towards their set goals. Summary reports will be provided for Term groups. Reports for holiday groups can be provided on request (at additional cost).






Please note:

*All MCM groups are billed as a Program of Support. As stated in the NDIS Program of Supports, when you enrol in a group program, you will be charged for all scheduled sessions (listed above), regardless of how many sessions your child attends.

*Group program charges will apply 14 days before the program is due to commence. If you cancel with more than 14 days’ notice, you will not be charged.

Please ensure you have an active service agreement with MCM, with sufficient available funding to cover the cost of the group. Call our Customer Support Team on 1800 343 287 to check or add additional funds to cover the cost of this group.

It is important to ensure your child is enrolled in the appropriate group to meet their goals. If this is the first group you have attended at MCM, an individual pre-group assessment session is required to ensure suitability and fit to the group.

*MCM may cancel this group if we are unable to reach minimum numbers.
