Minecraft Redstone Creation

About this Event
Students will learn to use Redstone in Minecraft to build some interesting creations. Guided by an experienced Minecrafter in a shared world, students will be shown how to build and have hands on support to ensure their creation comes to life.
Each week a different topic will be covered:
Week 1: (Monday 8th March) Key pad and light switch - Turn on lights (or other items) by using a keypad that requires the correct combination.
Week 2: (Monday 15th March) Hidden doors - Doors that blend into the Minecraft environment, but can be activated by players to open.
Week 3: (Monday 22nd March) Crop farming - learn how to harvest crops the easy way with Redstone.
Week 4: (Monday 29th March) 4x4 piston vault door - Build a complex bank vault style door. This will test your skills.
FAQs
What is the age range?
This workshop is ideal for students 8-11 years old. Please do not enrol your student if they are under 8 years old.
How many weeks does this workshop last?
This workshop is run weekly over 4 weeks.

Do I need to bring a computer?
No, we have computers setup and ready.However if you would like to use your own computer, please let us know and we can make accomodations.
Covid Lockdown
In the case of a shut-down due to Covid-19, please be advised that this workshop can be facilitated online through Zoom providing the students have Minecraft Java edition and Zoom installed on their computers. In this case, students will also need access to headphones which includes a microphone. The weekly schedule will remain the same. No refunds are offered for this program.
Covid Safe
- if your child is sick or has been sick with any flu symptoms (coughing, sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, and loss of taste) in the last 14 days, they must not attend, just to be safe
- Students must be signed into our register of attendees (a Government requirement for potential Corona virus tracing).
- There is enough space in our entry corridor to appropriately distance yourself from others while waiting. However, please be patient when this is happening. We will operate on a first in first served basis.
- all staff will squirt their hands with hand sanitiser before greeting any student and before handling any equipment
- all students/parents must squirt their hands with sand sanitiser BEFORE entering and then again if they touch their face
- from this point, staff and students can handle the same equipment
- students will be encouraged to squirt their hands again prior to leaving BBS
- computer keyboards/laptops/mice/equipment will be wiped cleaned by staff between sessions using disinfectant spray and wipes (please be patient while this is happening)
- toilets now have disposable paper-towels and a bin.
