Take your Minecraft skills beyond building and redstone — learn the science and coding behind running your own custom modded server!
In this three-day hands-on workshop, students will dive into the world of Java-powered Minecraft servers, exploring how mods, plugins, and world design come together to create amazing multiplayer experiences.

Participants will plan, build, configure, and test their very own server project — learning real-world coding concepts, cybersecurity awareness, and teamwork along the way.

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Understand how Java works with Minecraft and modloaders like Forge and Fabric
  • Learn to plan and design a multiplayer server from scratch (theme, world, and rules)
  • Safely install and manage mods, handle configuration files, and fix conflicts
  • Practice basic Java coding, read logs, and solve performance issues
  • Learn online safety and cybersecurity skills for responsible hosting
  • Host and test their own modded server with classmates
  • Present their finished project and share creative designs

  • Learn Java runtime setup and optimization

  • Debug crashes and fix mod conflicts
  • Understand safe configuration and backup practices

  • Test and explore classmates’ servers
