Kookoorniny is committed to providing long-term transitional housing for women and their children escaping domestic violence. These dedicated homes will help ease the pressure on emergency shelters by enabling survivors to move into secure housing, where they can begin rebuilding their lives. By freeing up critical refuge space, this initiative ensures that more victims have access to safe havens, reducing the risk of homelessness or returning to dangerous situations.

While Kookoorniny cannot single-handedly end domestic violence, it plays a vital role in reducing the number of women and children forced to remain in unsafe homes. It also contributes to addressing the tragic rise in domestic violence-related fatalities over the past 18 months. These homes will not be part of the rental market but will exist solely to support those in crisis, offering stability, security, and hope for a brighter future.
