About this event

Mental Health First Aid for the Workplace (Blended Online format) will teach you how to provide initial support to co-workers who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence based Action Plan. It is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. This course is an alternative to the 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid ® (MHFA™) course.

Course Content

This course covers common and disabling mental health problems and crisis situations. Participants learn how to apply mental health first aid to adults across a range of situations, including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use problems
  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
  • Panic attacks
  • Non-suicidal self-injury
  • Traumatic events

* Reasonable adjustments and legislation associated with supporting workplace mental illness.


Blended Online Format;

  1. Self-paced eLearning (5-7 hours). Participants will receive an online voucher to complete the eLearning. eLearning MUST be completed before proceeding to the online sessions.
  2. 2 x 2.5 hour interactive online sessions
  • Session 1: 9:30am - 12pm (AEST)
  • Session 2: 1pm - 3:30pm (AEST)


On completion of the course, participants can do an online assessment to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®). Accreditation is valid for 3 years.

Terms & Conditions

1. Cancellations or rescheduling requests can only be accepted up to ten business days before the scheduled course event date; otherwise, the full fee is payable. Rescheduling courses within 10 business days of the scheduled course date will incur a cost of $150 (+ GST). For any course cancellations where the eLearning component was included in the ticket price, the eLearning fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

2. In the unlikely event that Clarity Consulting Co. needs to postpone an online session, all registered participants affected by a cancellation/postponement will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the next available session or to choose an alternative date.

3. By accepting these terms and conditions, you accept and acknowledge that requesting an invoice for payment is a formal commitment to the booked ticket and the 10 business days for cancelling/rescheduling applies.

4. Hard copy Standard MHFA manuals are posted in advance due to postage/delivery delays. In the event of a requested refund, if the manual has already been mailed, the cost of the manual will not be refunded.

5. All eLearning modules MUST be completed before the first scheduled online session. If not, the participant will be unable to attend the online sessions and will be required to reschedule to another date.

6. The participant understands this course is not a therapy or support group.

Duration & Format

The 12-hour course can be delivered in 1 of 3 ways:

  • Face-to-face: 2 x 6-hour sessions over 2 days
  • Blended Face-to-Face: Self-paced eLearning (5-7 hours), followed by a 4-hour face-to-face session
  • Blended Online: Self-paced eLearning (5-7 hours), followed by 2 x 2.5-hour videoconferencing sessions

The blended delivery formats of this course include eLearning materials tailored to either workplaces (supporting staff or a co-worker) or community settings (supporting adults in all other settings). Please choose the most appropriate setting if registering for either Blended Face-to-Face or Blended Online course delivery.

Accreditation

Participants can complete the short assessment at the end of a course to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider). Accreditation is valid for 3 years.
