Description
Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol – School Holiday Workshop
Date: Tuesday 11 July 2017
Venue: Chisholm Institute of TAFE, 25 Kangan Drive, Berwick, VIC 3806
Meeting point: Building A, Foyer outside the Auditorium.
This workshop is open to students in Year 9 through to Year 12 during the winter school holidays. It may also help students to decide on their elective subjects or give them the skills to cope with issues surrounding mental health, drugs and alcohol. In the past, students who have attended have been able to learn and understand how best to cope in situations where they have been exposed to mental health, drugs and alcohol and came away making new friends.
You will be introduced to the fundamentals of alcohol and other drugs awareness and the impacts it has on the mental state of mind. The workshop will cover: What is a drug? How do drugs affect us? What is addiction? What is the connection between drugs and mental health? Where can you get help if you know someone who has a drug problem?
This workshop is perfect for students interested in learning more about psychology, working as a counsellor, working with youth, allied health and/or the community or even for personal reasons such as coping with exam stress.
Give up a few hours and you might find an undiscovered career!
What to bring: Comfortable clothes, BYO lunch (or lunch money), notepad, water and a positive attitude! A light snack will be provided.
Typical schedule:

10:00am: Workshop commences
12:00noon: Break for lunch
