Description

Mending workshop – a evening of food, wine and mending held at the commons, young street. Lead by Teslin Doud.

Teslin Doud is a Circular Designer and Innovator specializing in fashion reuse and circular fashion systems. A Parsons alumni, Teslin’s curiosity and creativity leave her constantly questioning the status quo. With a systems-based approach to fashion design, Teslin began her career at EILEEN FISHER in New York where she played an integral part of expanding the EILEEN FISHER Renew program. She created scalable methods for re-designing damaged garments into new heirlooms and provided design solutions to enable the circular economy. Her work remains an important pillar of EILEEN FISHER’s circular design strategy. Now living in Australia, Teslin is redefining “waste” as an expert in circular fashion principles and practice. Through her studio and consultancy, The Threads, Teslin strives to empower designers to use their creativity to cultivate sustainable fashion systems for healthy and thriving people, planet and profit.

Whether you’re trying to save the world, or just your favorite pair of pants, this hand mending workshop is about cultivating sustainability through creativity. So, if you’re an experienced mender or if you’re a newbie that questions their creative abilities, grab a garment from your mending pile and join us, all are welcome.

You’ll learn how to darn moth eaten sweaters and pesky holes. If patches are more your style, we’ll be stitching those too. Need a little repair? We can sew on a button or close up a busted seam. By the time we’re done, you’ll have a new (old) heirloom and a renewed sense of what is fixable — trust me, finding a new hole in your favorite sweater will have never felt so exciting.

This is a FREE event with only 15 spaces so be sure to REGESTER.

Drinks to be supplied by Moorak Wines. Delish nibbles provided by Troppo Cafe in collaboration with The Simple Market, Small World Bakery, Dough and Say Cheese.

Please let us know if you have regestered but are unable to attend.
