Loving husband to Franki and father to Norman (deceased), Anna, Jack, Bridget, James and Andrew. Loved by his grandchildren, siblings and all his family as well as friends, colleagues and the community.

We invite you to commemorate Jim's extraordinary life and achievements while overlooking the yachts at Pier 33, the site of the former Mooloolaba Yacht Club where he played an active role and had a lot of fun.

Jim was born in Victoria and attended Essendon High School. After graduation from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1951, he worked briefly in Melbourne. In 1952 Jim co-founded the magazine Architecture and Arts with a number of his contemporaries. Working for the Commonwealth Works Department, Jim was transferred to Canberra, before going on to Darwin and finally Brisbane where he was appointed Brisbane City Council Architect in 1955. In 1961 he became Staff Architect at the University of Queensland and published Walter Burley Griffen (1964 UQP). He moved into private practice in 1966 where he worked on large scale projects in Queensland and Papua New Guinea and on Transmigrasi in Indonesia. He was elected as a councillor for the Shire of Maroochy in Queensland in March 1985. In 2014 he published A Life In Architecture: Beyond The Ugliness (UQP).
