Melting Pot: Food, Memory and Belonging
Overview
What is it about food that stirs up a melting pot of emotions? From locally sourced organic produce and bush tucker to food trucks and fusion foods, WA’s food culture continues to reflect the people who call this place home.
As part of the State Library’s latest exhibition A Recipe For Life: The Food That Shapes Us, a panel of foodies, historians and trendsetters will discuss why culture, place and identity all play a part in WA’s continuing love affair with food from around the world.
Ticket price includes food samples from chef and panellist Tamara Rodriguez whose catering company Casa Latina draws on the regional specialities of the migrant women she works with. Tamara and her team will take you on a culinary adventure inspired by WA’s cultural heritage.
