MediThon is a 3 day sprint where great minds come together to tackle a pressing problem in healthcare. Working in teams of 4-5, you’ll experience real-world innovation by brainstorming ideas, generating concepts and building prototypes. Throughout the event, hear from the experts with a series of interactive workshops to sharpen your skills. And with the help of clinician and industry mentors, you’ll learn what it takes to build something truly valuable. All this culminates in a final pitch to a panel of judges, where you and your team will be given the opportunity to tell your story.

The theme this year for MediThon 2022 is: “Children are not small adults”

Conceptions of childhood have undergone continuous and historical evolution; children can no longer be regarded as small adults.

This year’s theme brings to light the biological, cognitive, and moral differences that separate children from adults. We can no longer look at them through the same lens.

Young children show an increased vulnerability to the dangers of our world. Their size, immature anatomy and physiology, and differing pharmacodynamics leave much to be desired in child-centric innovation…

Held in the Telstra Creator Space within Melbourne Connect, MediThon is your chance to get your hands dirty. Build on your technical repertoire with all the tools you’ll need to turn your idea into reality. You’ll need to tap into your critical thinking, creative problem solving and time management skills to ensure your team’s solution is as innovative as can be!

🤝 BUILD YOUR NETWORK

It needn’t be restated how important it is to build your network early on. That’s why in conjunction with our sponsors, we’ve brought together a series of workshops and networking opportunities for you to get a leg in and to push your name out there. And of course, it’s a great way to get to know your fellow students too.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Who can attend: All students of the University of Melbourne are welcome to attend!

Please note that you will be working in teams of 4-5 students. If you are not in a team of 4-5, or are signing up as an individual, we will allocate as required.

Also note that in order to participate, Telstra Creator Space training is mandatory. You will be required to provide evidence of completion before the start of the event. It won’t take too much of your time, so don’t stress!
