This special retreat is grounded in the practices of mindfulness and insight meditation from the lineage of Alan's Buddhist teachers during his years as a monk - Burma's Mahasi Sayadaw and Sayadaw U Pandita along with World Dharma - finding freedom in every circumstance faced.

The day includes:

- Silent group meditations with progressive instructions on the wisdom of mindfulness meditation.
- Teachings of embodied presence and sustained mindfulness in all postures: sitting, walking etc.
- Meditation practices designed specifically to evoke dignity, self-respect, conscience and freedom.
- Guided meditations fostering states of consciousness such as authenticity, naturalness and love.
- Teachings and detailed instructions for integrating mindfulness in complex daily life circumstances.
- Short talks with Q&A and dialogue to inspire making meditation an integral part of one's daily life.

Talk subjects include:

- Awareness: to "see things as they are" as central to realistic self discovery.
- Examining self-generated suffering - how it arises and how it is released.
- Meditation as the embodiment of our humanness, not an escape from it.
- Expanding ones comfort to embrace a larger more complex circle of life.
- Strengthen confidence and the ability to stay present with an open heart.
- Developing the capacity to draw strength from hardships and obstacles.
- Cultivating our most authentic, improvisational, liberating sense of self.

Benefits of the Retreat:

- Learn first hand the challenge of being present and the direct experience of freedom.
- By observing thoughts one sees that they are not their thoughts, thus opening the door to wisdom.
- Meditation as inner-ecology: Mindfulness inhabits consciousness and transforms its environment.
- Meditation is the practice of universal human rights, as it elevates conscience, dignity and freedom.
- Meditation develops one's mindful intelligence - the transformative power of making one's life art.
- Becoming spiritually literate, and with it taking greater risks to live authentically with love and joy.
