Meditation and Fire
The Recorder Co-op, featuring ensemble members Ruth Wilkinson, Ryan Williams, Hannah Coleman, and Alexandra Bailliet-Joly with guest Ben Hoadley are coming together for a beautiful performance blending Renaissance music and contemporary repertoire. This year, they are thrilled to welcome the accomplished bassoonist, composer and recorder player, Ben Hoadley, with whom they will showcase a unique set of recorders.
The ensemble will perform on a consort of matched renaissance style recorders which were generously donated to the University of Melbourne by the late Terry Simmons and built by Danish recorder maker Ture Bergstrøm. Exploring works from the 16th and 21st centuries the use of these exquisite instruments performing together promises for an unforgettable musical experience.

About The Recorder Co-op
The Recorder Co-op is a collective group of professional recorder players who individually contribute their diverse talents to create and strengthen respect for an instrument with a long and glorious history from medieval times to the present day. It is an instrument with a vast repertoire that continues to grow today and the program presented for this concert displays part of this diversity in the hands of these skilled musicians. The University of Melbourne, Faculty of Fine Arts and Music has played a part in the lives of the core members of this ensemble.
