Aerial UTS Function Centre

The dominant linear design thinking approaches are reaching the end of their lifecycle, not designed to handle the ever-increasing complexity in the world. Join us to explore cutting-edge alternatives!

This Masterclass will explore ideas, approaches and tools to broaden your ability to engage with the lived experiences of users and communities, and how that insight is taken into account in design at various levels including service, product and governance design.

With this approach, the potential exists to uncover opportunities we wouldn’t otherwise have seen, generate ideas we couldn't otherwise have had and exapt or repurpose existing assets into novel solutions.

What's included?

Explore tools and practices including the use of SenseMaker® to distribute both ethnography (discovery of need) with ideation (identification of possible solutions), contrasting this with more linear approaches – each of which are also still applicable in their own domain.

Dave Snowden will share novel ways he’s been helping organisations do discovery and ideation, not only using typical teams structures and expert researchers and designers, but adding the power of distributed ideation and discovery via human sensor networks.

Supported by SenseMaker software applications and our Hexi kit facilitation aids, this Masterclass will introduce a holistic approach to design for complexity, as well as practical tools to introduce these approaches into your work, organization and clients.

Facilitators

This Masterclass will be facilitated by Dave Snowden and guest facilitator Cameron Tonkinwise.
