Event description

Description

This Masterclass will present exciting new evidence that is changing the way we need to plan cities, and will also work through examples of how each of us can apply Better Best Practice in our work.

Written by practitioners for practitioners, the Better Best Practice Notes are short and flexible. Each Note contains steps and potential actions to inform your project briefs, policy development, community engagement or contract management.

Come along and find out how and why newly developed ‘Better Best Practice Notes’ set out the best steps and evidence to help today’s busy practitioners apply city sustainability.

Tickets cost $48

This event is sponsored by Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.

Discounted cost for members of The Urban Well

FAQs

Who should come to this event?

Senior urban planners, urban designers, project managers, environmental policy specialists, landscape architects, transport planners, climate change specialists, water specialists, community facilitators, engineers and any other practitioners involved in urban development.

We invite land managers such as local government, state agencies and large businesses to join us at this Masterclass as it will help you write project briefs and contracts that support best possibilities for city sustainability. We also invite consultants to attend and learn about great opportunites to apply new innovations.

What content do the Better Best Practice Notes cover?

Each Better Best Practice Note covers multiple environmental objectives. For instance, if you are a water or biodiversity or land use specialist, you will find references to your area of interest in most of them. In fact, that is the goal of the BBPNotes and we will be continually improving these links to help break down silos.

To date, we have released nine BBPNotes with an early focus on green infrastructure outcomes (urban forest, soil health, passive irrigation, biodiversity). At the session we will also launch four new BBPNotes covering Air Pollution, Traditional Ecological Knowledge for Cities, Sustainable Design for Schools and Green Infrastructure for Carparks.

BBPNotes have been reviewed by academic experts.

What is happening after the Masterclass?

Loci is hosting an End of Year - Linking People and Environment Celebration at Ceres from 5pm. We invite you to stay and join us for this free event, however we will need you to register separately.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No need to bring your printed ticket. We will have your name at the door. If you decide to send someone else via your ticket, please let us know as we design the session to best fit the background of the attendees.
