Masterclass Acting in Italian: Fluency Through Theatre with Bianca Bonino
Free Masterclass - A dynamic session designed for those who wish to improve their Italian through theatre
This acting masterclass in Italian will be led by actress Bianca Bonino, who will guide participants on a journey to discover the musicality of the Italian language through poetry and short literary excerpts.
The session will begin with listening and exploring the rhythm of words, highlighting how pronunciation — even before formal diction — is essential to bringing a text to life. Through simple and enjoyable word “chewing” exercises, participants will work through phonetic challenges and gain greater confidence in spoken expression.
The masterclass will also spark curiosity about foreign texts translated into Italian, exploring how the language transforms and resonates in ever-changing ways.
Finally, everyone will be invited to step into the spotlight by performing short scenes from Tragedies in Two Lines by Achille Campanile — a light-hearted and engaging way to immediately put newly acquired skills into practice.

Bianca Bonino
Actress, theatre director, and Commedia dell’Arte instructor, Bianca Bonino discovered her passion for Commedia dell'Arte in 2006, the traditional Italian comic theatre featuring masks.
For many years, she was part of the company she founded, Fools In Progress Inc..
In 2023, she established a new cultural association, The Troppo Troupe Inc., through which she continues to offer Commedia dell’Arte workshops and performances in schools and for wider audiences.
She regularly collaborates with Sydney-based cultural organizations such as the Dante Alighieri Society and NIAWA, curating Italian poetry readings and cultural events.
Alongside her theatrical work, she has developed a deep passion for working as a tour guide — a profession she considers surprisingly akin to acting — and which today represents her primary professional activity.
