Margaret Olley Drawing Week at NAS 2018

Welcome to Drawing Week 2018!

Monday 26 February – Thursday 1 March
9am – 4.30pm each day
*Goat Island 8:30am – 2:30pm

All enrolled students need to chose one from the range of workshops. Each workshop offers a distinct focus for drawing over the four days at locations ranging from the historic township of Hill End to Sydney Harbour’s Goat Island and the National Art School campus. Each workshop provides scope for students to start the year with a full immersion in the process of looking at, thinking about and making drawings.

Workshops are available to 2nd and 3rd Years only - there are 18 places in each course (9 for 2nd year and 9 for 3rd year)

The workshops are listed below:

• Animation with Sarah Eddowes in the Digilab at NAS, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• Drawing in the Library with John Bokor and Therese Keogh at the State Library of NSW, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• Drawing Movement with Maryanne Coutts in the Chapel at NAS, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• Drawing on Goat Island with Joe Frost on Goat Island (An island in Sydney Harbour) 8.30 – 2.30 each day.

• Drawing Stone with David Horton and Jim Croke at Macquarie St. Sydney and the NAS Sculpture Studios, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• Drawing with Clay with Sandy Lockwood and Stephen Bird in the NAS 2nd year ceramic studio, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• Developing a Line of Thought: Thinking Through Drawing with Lynne Eastaway, Susan Andrews, Roger Crawford and Nick Collerson in the Building 5 Painting Studios at NAS, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• Hill End: Going for Gold with Charles Cooper in Hill End. This is residential so there are extra travel and accommodation costs.

• Memory and Place: Drawing the Senses with Ella Dreyfus in Building 25 at NAS, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• Proximity with Margaret Roberts will be at Articulate Project Space which is an artist run space in Parramatta Rd Leichardt. 9.30 – 4.30 Tuesday to Friday. There will be an exhibition in the space which will open on the Friday night and the show will run through the weekend.

• Staging Drawing with Oliver Watts and Gary Warner at NAS Building 16, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• Site Lines: Drawing the Past with Deborah Beck in the NAS archive and Building 11 Seminar room, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• The City and Artworks that Move with Carolyn Mckenzie-Craig and Clare Britton at NAS 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• The Performative Trace with Alan Schacher in the Rayner Hoff Project Space NAS building 11, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.

• The Drawing Book with Polly Joannou at various sites around Sydney, 9.30 – 4.30 each day.
