Spring into the captivating story of Orange as you've never seen it before!Celebrate the stunning new book Mapping Orange: How explorers, surveyors and cartographers made their mark, written by Orange &amp; District Historical Society members with a passion for history.Journey from the earliest survey pegs in a vast unknown landscape to the vibrant Orange streetscapes of today.Beginning with John Oxley's travels in1820 to the detailed town map of 1860, showing streets and settler's blocks, Orange grew and thrived to an astonishing degree.From the naming of the significant cultural site Mount Canobolas/Gaanha-bula to the careers of the surveyors; from the lives of the early settlers in Blackman's Swamp, to the pioneers of the fledgling town, Mapping Orange takes readers through the growth and development of the city - never previously examined in such detail.Come along and celebrate the launch of this important local history book with Orange &amp; District Historical Society at Orange City Library on Thursday 20 November from 5 - 7pm. All welcome.Books will be available for purchase for $40 each on the night supported by Collins Booksellers, Orange.
