Learn core skills to assess, manage and prevent wound deterioration using an evidence based, client centred care approach.
Outline: This workshop will enable healthcare professionals to develop foundational knowledge and skills to assess, manage and help prevent further deterioration of wounds in primary healthcare. It will provide clinicians with an evidence based framework to assess and manage a variety of wounds while understanding the importance of client centred education and care.
Prerequisites: Nil, although an online companion is available for health professionals who want to learn more about the etiology and types of wounds.
Important information: This training is provided at no cost by Murray PHN and delivered by Benchmarque Group (RTO. 21824). Upon successful completion of registration, participants will be sent a link to enrol into Benchmarque Group's learning management system. This is required to facilitate your participation and for statements of attendance to be issued by Benchmarque Group.
Learning outcomes:
- Assess, manage and apply various wound management techniques to a broad range of clients in the primary healthcare setting.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various wound management products and materials and the techniques to apply the appropriate product.
- Obtain a compliant wound swab culture using best practice methods
- Apply a broad knowledge of management strategies, client-centred education and provision of basic care and advice about wound management.
- Assess the need for and perform wound management in various settings and educate and assist clients in managing their wounds.
Audience: Aboriginal health practitioners, Aboriginal health workers, primary healthcare nurses, GPs, GP registrars, pharmacists and other primary healthcare professionals working in the Murray PHN region.
