The Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations and UN Women invite you to a lunchtime dialogue on approaches and strategies for women’s meaningful participation in efforts to resolve conflict, negotiate peace and implement peace agreements.

The event will take place at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations on Wednesday 24th October, 13:15 - 14:45. The event will take the format of a panel of championing Member States, UN representative and civil society that will feature women peacebuilders and mediators.

Speakers include Irish peacebuilder Ms Bronagh Hinds, member of the Northern Ireland Women's Coalition negotiation team to the Good Friday Agreement and women peacebuilders from Colombia and Syria.

The report of the UN Women Expert Group Meeting 2018 will be launched at this event. UNWomen’s two-day, Expert Group Meeting on “Women’s meaningful participation in negotiating peace and the implementation of peace agreements” was in May 2018. The Meeting included women with direct experience working for peace, including as mediators and negotiators in peace talks, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Georgia, Kenya, Kosovo (UNSCR1244), Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, South Sudan, Syria, Uganda and Yemen.
