Making Space for Women: Planning gender equitable community spaces and public art
This is a community event held during 16 days of Activism - led by Women with Disabilities Victoria, Women’s Health Victoria and Women's Health in the North
The way public spaces are designed can have a long term impact - either in contributing to, or helping to address gender inequality.
This event will feature a panel of expert speakers who will discuss how public artworks can contribute to the design of public spaces that are welcoming, inclusive and accessible for women, including:
-
Dr. Sally Northfield and Danielle Hakim, Women's Arts Register (Women's Mural Documentation Project - supported by the City of Yarra)
-
Laura Thompson and Nikita Rotumah, Victorian Aboriginal Health Service
-
Teneille Summers, Darebin City Council
-
Women with Disabilities Victoria
-
Annie Douglass, Women's Health in the North
Making Space for Women will build on the community dialogue around innovative opportunities to improve the representation and inclusion of women in public art and community life in Victoria and include interactive activities and discussion which we warmly invite you to participate in.
Date: Thursday 8 December
Time: 2:30pm to 4:30pm
