Event description
Learn how to make paper from hemp fabric.

About this Event

Did you know that you can make paper from hemp, which is also one of the most sustainable fabrics available? In this free hands-on workshop participants will learn how to upcycle hemp fabric off-cuts into paper. You will learn how to cut and blend the fabric, use a mold and deckle to shape the paper, and how to dry the paper.

You'll leave this workshop with a greater appreciation of sustainable art practices and take home practical knowledge of how to create your own hemp paper from natural fibres.

BYO flower petals or small organic materials to include in the paper.

The workshop will be facilitated by Gilbert Grace, artist-in-residence at Whites Creek Cottage. Gilbert is a graduate from Sydney College of the Arts and is passionate about art, history, cycling, the GreenWay and Sydney Green ring. Gilbert's upcoming exhibition is Against Hollywood at Art Est, Leichhardt.

This workshop is limited to residents of the Inner West Council area. If you are from outside this area please email education@greenlivingcentre.org.au to be put on a waitlist.
