Event description

Description

Terrariums are glass mini worlds containing plants and are an ideal way to bring greenery to indoor spaces. Originally discovered in the 1800’s in the UK, terrariums provide an ecosystem for plants to live in. They brighten up living areas and can be used to decorate any indoor spaces such as living rooms, bedrooms and office. We will be creating an open terrarium using suitable terrarium plants with a glass bowl measuring approx. 20cm diameter (Large to fit up to 5 plants) or 12cm (Small to fit 1-2 plants). You will learn about each of the materials, where to source them and why they are important. In the class you will also learn about the history of terrariums, how they were discovered, the difference between open and closed terrariums and how to maintain and keep your terrarium healthy and thriving. You will also be provided with instructions so you can carry on making terrariums to your hearts content at home. There will be time at the end of the workshop to let your imagination run wild to create your own mini world with accessories such as miniatures, stones, shells, sand and dried moss.

All the materials are included with accessories to create your own mini world to brighten your home.

Bookings for this event will close on 28 January.

WHAT TO BRING: The workshop can get a bit messy so if you want to protect your clothes please bring an old shirt to wear. Please also bring a bag to take your terrarium home in. When booking for the workshop select the terrarium size you would like to make and take home (Large or Small).
