Anzac MemorialSydney, NSW
Sunday, Feb 22 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm AEDT
Overview

Commemorate the National Day for War Animals with a piece of live theatre and special tour of the Anzac Memorial.

Join the Anzac Memorial for a heart-rending piece of live theatre and special tour honouring the animals that have served in war as transport, messengers, and protectors. The performance runs for approximately 25 mins and will be followed by the tour.

Don’t miss this rare performance of Morris Gleitzman’s powerful monologue, Loyal Creatures. It’s a stirring story of the friendship between a 16-year-old boy and his horse in the Great War, based on the experiences of the men and horses of the Australian Light Horse.

This deeply moving tale of loyalty, courage and mateship will be followed by a private after-hours tour of the Memorial, focusing on the vital service of animals throughout Australia’s military history.

From the representation of animals in the art and architecture of the Anzac Memorial building, to stories housed in our Centenary Exhibition, the tour will explore the significant contribution our four-legged friends have made to Australian military service.

This special event will be held on Sunday 22 February from 5pm to 6:30pm. Tickets are $30.00 + booking fee per person and include the performance and tour.

Places are limited – bookings essential.
