This workshop focuses on helping therapists to minimise lower limb impairments post-stroke and increase engagement in activities. Workshop notes and content will be based on published research and movement science/motor relearning.
You will receive pre-reading, a workshop manual and a detailed list of references. Catering is provided.
Day One - Friday, 22nd March 2023 (8am to 5pm)
Session 1: Evidence-based practice
Session 2: Impairments after stroke
Session 3: Increasing strength in very weak muscles
Session 4: Intensity of practice
Session 5: Balance and postural adjustments
Session 6: Sitting: Biomechanics, analysis and evidence-based intervention
Session 7: Standing: Biomechanics, analysis and evidence-based intervention
Session 8: Clinical session 1: Assessment and analysis of stroke survivors by presenters
Day Two - Saturday, 23rd March 2023 (8am to 430pm)
Session 9: Standing up: Biomechanics, analysis and evidence-based intervention
Session 10: Walking: Biomechanics
Session 11: Being a coach
Session 12: Clinical session 2: Review of overnight practice with all stroke survivors present
Session 13: Clinical session 3: Clinical session with stroke survivors in 8 small groups
Day Three - Sunday, 24th March 2023 (8am to 4pm)
Session 14: Review of walking biomechanics
Session 15: Walking: Analysis
Session 16: Walking: Evidence-based intervention
Session 17: Muscle testing and progression – practical
Session 18: Clinical session 4: Review of stroke survivor’s practice & progression
Session 19: Clinical session 5: Analysis & training of new stroke survivor in small groups
About the presenters:
Parking Information
Parking is available onsite for $13 per day or alternatively, in surrounding streets behind Woolworths and/or on the other side of the railway line (approximately 10 minute walk). Please be aware that 2 hour parking limits apply within the Woolworths carpark and in some streets immediately adjacent to the hospital. Fines apply if limits are exceeded. Loganlea Train Station is a 5 minute walk from the hospital.

Please arrive at 7:45am for an 8:00am start.
What's the cancellation and refund policy?
To cancel your registration, you can request a cancellation through Eventbrite, or contact the PA Research Foundation: events@pafoundation.org.au / 07 3180 1840.
- Attendees can receive a refund, less Eventbrite fees, if registration is cancelled 14 or more days prior to the event. If cancellations are requested within 14 days of the event, there is no refund.
- If the EVENT is cancelled by the organiser, attendees will receive a full refund.
